We have lots of lovely things planned this term, and we are excited to share our learning journey with you.
Topic Overview
Our Autumn term theme is called "Encore." This is an Expressive Arts driven theme focusing on drama and a discipline of art. The purposeful passenger for this theme is Humanities.
Autumn Term at Gwaunfarren has always been a hive of excitement as we prepare for Christmas productions. Our concerts are an integral part of our ethos and community, so we wanted to develop a topic that would enhance this experience.
Below is a Knowledge Organiser which provides further information about what the children will be focusing on this term.
Need to know days
Our PE day is Monday afternoon. Please ensure pupils have appropriate kit for these sessions ( trainers/ joggers/ leggings/ t-shirts).
Bike and scooter day is on Thursday - please make every effort to bring in bikes and scooters as part of our promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
Friday - Whole School Celebration Assembly. If your child has obtained any achievements or awards outside of school, they are able to bring them in to share with the school during our celebration assembly. It is during this assembly that Pupil of the Week and Plentyn Cymraeg Yr Wythnos are celebrated.
Reading Books/ Homework
Reading packs should be brought to class daily as we will read with them as often as possible. Please can you sign your child’s reading record so we can clearly see that a book has been read, otherwise it may not be changed.
New spellings will be available on Google Classroom every Monday and there will be a spelling test every Friday. Please practise spellings with your child throughout the week. Any additional homework will also be communicated through our Google Classroom.
Milk and Fruit
Milk is offered daily to Foundation Phase pupils free of charge. Children can either bring in their own fruit or we sell a wide range of fruit which is on sale for 25p per day / £1.25 per week.
