Welcome to Reception. We have lots of wonderful things planned this term and we are excited to share our learning journey with you. Remember to log into Seesaw!

Topic Overview

This term we are exploring the concept of ‘Cynefin / Belonging’ and ‘Do whom do we belong to?’. We will begin by discussing our families and understanding the different relationships and move on to our family homes and the local community.

Need to know days

Muddy Mondays - What better way to spend a Monday afternoon than in the great outdoors! In Reception, we use the nature reserve as an outdoor classroom. Can children please bring suitable clothing - eg wellies, waterproof coats. Can these be brought into school in named bags, please. 

PE  - The children have PE on a Tuesday. Can they please wear suitable clothing and footwear. 

Bikes and Scooters  - Every Wednesday, the children are invited to bring to school bikes/scooters where they are able to enjoy them on the yard. Please make sure the children have helmets for safety. 

Whole School Celebration Assembly - Every Friday morning, the children gather in the hall to celebrate awards and achievements. If your child has obtained any achievements or awards outside of school, they are able to bring them in to share with the school during our celebration assembly. It is during this assembly that Pupil of the Week and Plentyn Cymraeg Yr Wythnos are celebrated.

Reading Books/ Homework

The children have set reading days, these have already been communicated to you, and read in class once a week. The children will receive 2 dojo points for remembering their reading folders on the correct days and a further point if they have read at home. Every Friday, a home learning task will be set on Seesaw and is to be completed by the following Thursday. 3 dojo points for completing this!

Milk and Fruit

Milk is offered daily to Foundation Phase pupils free of charge. Children can either bring in their own fruit or we sell a wide range of fruit which is on sale for 25p per day / £1.25 per week.
