Welcome Message
Welcome to Gwaunfarren Year 6. Children’s final and most fabulous year! We have lots of lovely things planned this term and we are excited to share our learning journey with you.
Topic Overview
This term we will be studying the concept of ‘Cynefin / Belonging’ through the context of Refugees. The topic’s main aim is to develop a better understanding of how the world treats refugees, discussing where they rightly belong and exploring ‘belonging’ on a local, national and global scale - promoting Global Citizenship.
Need to know days

Reading Books/ Homework
We encourage our pupils to read for 20 minutes every day and we change any schemed reading books frequently throughout the week. Please can you sign your child’s reading record so that we can see if a book has been read, otherwise it may not be changed.
Many of our pupils are now ‘Free Reading’, meaning they have completed the school's reading scheme, therefore books of interest from home are encouraged, please liaise with class teachers to ensure books are appropriate for school use with regard to content and challenge. ‘Reading Eggs’ and ‘Read Theory’ are also available for extra online reading support and pupils receive their digital passports for these at the start of the year.
Homework is given every Friday and is to be returned by the following Monday. Any online work is set on Google Classroom.
